An Embroidered Binder Cover for Your Sewing Room

I truly feel that you should have two books always near your sewing machine for reference

One is, of course, your sewing machine manual! The other one is a three ring binder to keep stitch samples, quilting ideas, thread information - anything you can think of that you may want to refer to often.

This project shows you how to make a quilted decorative binder cover that features and embroidery motif of your choice. Fun to make and fun to use!

Oak Leaf Toss Arounds

I had so much fun with this project! I designed individual leaves in two sizes for you to appliqué by machine embroidery onto felt. You can scatter them about the house for a festive autumn feel in your home.

Sweet Summer Floral

I made this project to be displayed on a table top easel. It's a nice way to show off a little quilt.

The quilt is appliquéd and is embellished with embroidered butterflies.
Graceful Bloom Wall Hanging

This quilt was quilted before appliquéing. It was a fun and interesting way to make a quilt. Choose some interesting fabrics and give it a try!

Moonlight Serenade

Moonlight Serenade was the first project I made for Janome. I used tonal and solid fabrics in this quilt. The appliqué is fused and finished by machine. The quilt is embellished with machine embroidery. A big project, but beautiful when complete!

Keep the Heart Truth Growing Wall Hanging

Janome supports the Heart Truth® Campaign. It's a national program meant to inform and raise awareness in women about heart disease. I designed this wall hanging and a matching pillow to recognize Janome's efforts. Use a variety of reds in this project and play around with decorative stitching to really make the hearts pop. This project has remained popular year after year. I hope you give it a try.

Matching Contemporary Double Sided Napkins

Dress your table setting up even more by adding these reversible napkins to your Contemporary Placemats. Consider using a decorative stitch to the edges of the appliqué. When you scroll down the instruction page, you'll be able to see how I stitched mine.

Keep the Heart Truth Growing Pillow

This pillow will coordinate with the Heart Truth wall hanging or stand alone. It's a great little Valentine's Day project. I used a lightweight interfacing on my background fabric so I could appliqué and finish the project without quilting.

A number of years ago, I was delighted when asked by Janome to use one of my quilts in their spring promotional advertising campaign. Wasn't that an honor?!

Since that time, I've created a number of projects exclusively for them, including one I'm the most proud of --
my embroidery designs on the Horizon Memory Craft 9900.

I'm powered -- or should I say I'm empowered by my Janome sewing/ embroidery machines. They allow me to put on fabric anything I can imagine!

I've been using sewing machines made by Janome for the past twenty years and I can attest to the fact that these are beautiful, well-constructed and powerful machines.
There's one more darling in the sewing room - the new Horizon MC 15000. It's a joy to use!

You can even plan and monitor your embroidery away from the sewing room via a wireless connection and your iPad. This is a very cool feature and I'm enjoying it immensely.

And that's just one of the features. Visit Janome.com for more information on both of these machines.
Left is the MC 9900 and the 15 embroidery designs created just for Janome.

My Favorite Sleep Mask

These sleep masks make great little gifts and are
so easy to make. Embellish plain fabric with lettering, decorative stitches or applique. Find some small pieces of fabric leftovers from a recent project? This is a great way to use them up and make something useful at the same time.

They work well too because they are extra deep and block out more light!

Sassy Summer Table Runner

One of these runners was made on the Horizon MC15000 and features an embroidery motif from The World of Embroidery Designs collection.

Jane's Review of the Janome Skyline S9
Janome's Skyline S9 is gracing my sewing room and I've had the opportunity to give it a workout. It's full of top-of-the-line features including remarkable new embroidery capabilities. And it's very attractive and modern looking. You want to sit in front of this sewing machine!

A short list of my personal favorite features includes a 9mm stitch width, one step needle plate conversion capability, last stitch recall and adjustable knee lift. I love the S9's Acu-FlexTM system, making sewing light weight fabrics and multiple layers so smooth and easy. With
Acu-Flex, fabric layers are moved under the needle from both top and bottom - layers move evenly under the needle. There's no worry about fabric slippage!

And Acu-Flex eliminates the need for a noisy, clunky walking foot. Acu-Flex comprises two devices with a regular sewing foot attached, one for normal sewing and another sized for narrow
areas. More time can be spent quilting without fabric slippage. Plus the S9 includes special AcuFeedTM feet made specifically for the Acu-Flex system - a 1/4" foot, an open-toe foot, and even a zipper foot. You're covered for any project you work with.

The machine is very well equipped for embroidery projects and embellishments. It comes with three hoops, a 6.7" x 7.9" rectangular, 5.5" square, and a 3.9" x 1.6" rectangular (which is wonderful for embroidery in tiny spaces - think cuffs, socks, etc.) There are 250 pre-loaded embroidery designs, including 40 beautiful and exciting
designs by Anna Marie Horner, exclusive to the S9.
Like you, I continually collect new embroidery designs. Transferring designs to the Skyline S9 is so easy. You can use a direct PC connection, a USB stick, and even Wi-Fi with Janome's terrific embroidery apps right on your iPad.
FYI, I want to mention the very cool Anna Marie Horner Limited Edition Embroidery Collection starter kit found at your Janome dealer right now. So much fun to open! You'll find 18 spools of Iris polyester embroidery thread, three fun pieces of Anna Marie cotton fabric and and a piece of knit fabric, all the stabilizer you could possibly need to start working and, to top it off, a cute little clothespin USB drive.

I used a few items from the kit to try out a brand new embroidery feature on the S9.
There are designs and accessories made specifically for couching with the embroidery unit. PRETTY NEAT! I chose one of the ten pre-programmed designs, then hooped up a piece of fabric with the wash-away / tear-away stabilizer and gave this feature a whirl. I love it!
The couching stitched out beautifully and quickly! I can think of all kinds of projects that would be fun to create with these couching designs.

This machine is great. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a nicely priced machine with a lot of capabilities. Check out all of them on the Janome website. Happy Creating!
